What is Tummy Tuck?

The Tummy Tuck(abdominoplasty) procedure is designed to contour the body creating a flat firm abdomen by removing loose, excess fat and skin tightening abdominal muscle walls. This procedure can enhance the shape and contours of your body along with an improved self-confidence and mindset that can take you much further in your successes.

Why Have a Tummy Tuck? What Can It Do?

1. Flatten the stomach. 2. Firm the waist area. 3. Change the way you look. 4. Get rid of extra skin and fat. 5. Tighten the abdominal muscles. 6. Give a smoother stomach. 7. Lessen the number of stretch marks you have. 8. Make your waist be in proportion again. 9. Create a dramatic change in your look.

Standard Tummy Tuck

Surgical cuts will be made in your abdomen and above your bikini line. Your belly button will be cut from the surrounding skin. Your surgeon will pull stretched or torn muscles together and stitch them in place.

He or she will remove excess fat, pull down the skin and trim off the excess.

Mini Tummy Tuck

The skin and fat below your belly button is removed, leaving a long curved scar along your bikini line.

The Procedure

The abdominoplasty procedure is a highly invasive procedure that can take anywhere from one to five hours depending on the patient and and the amount of skin being removed.

Generally, a partial abdominoplasty has a shorter surgery period ranging from one to two hours and a slightly shorter recovery time.

General anesthesia is administered to all patients regardless of the technique being used. For the full abdominoplasty, an incision is made right above the pubic area, its size varying from patient to patient. Patients with a larger amount of skin being removed will generally need a larger insicion.

Stretch marks may also be removed or improved during this procedure. Patients must keep in mind that it is not guaranteed that all stretch marks will be removed. Complete abdominoplasty runs from hipbone to hipbone allowing your plastic surgeon to contour the skin, tissues and muscles along with exposing all abdominal tissue.

After the skin has been removed, it will be pulled down and the navel will be relocated to the appropriate position. The surgeon will then insert drainage to prevent fluid buildup and the incision will be closed up either with stitches or sutures.

How much is a Tummy Tuck?

Many factors come into play when thinking about the price of the procedure for each individual. Aspects such as age, weight, and physical health play a significant role on the price your doctor will give you.

Patients who combine the abdominoplasty with other cosmetic procedures will generally receive a higher price.
