Rhinoplasty in Ahmedabad,Gujarat.

A Rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping procedure is a very popular cosmetic surgery procedure amongst both men and women. A lot of people can be self-conscious about a particular aspect of their appearance and many people are unhappy with the shape of their nose. It may have a hump, be too long or wide and in addition, there are sometimes problems that contribute to breathing difficulties.

Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is sometimes referred to as “nose reshaping” or a “nose job.” It can improve the appearance and proportion of your nose, or correct a breathing problem associate with the nose.

Most of us notice someone’s nose only when it is not in balance with their face, whether it’s too large, too wide, or misshapen. If you are dissatisfied with the shape or proportion of your nose, you are likely dissatisfied with your overall facial appearance. Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) in Cartagena can improve the way you look at yourself, as well as how others see you.

Who is a good candidate for this Procedure?

Patients choose rhinoplasty for their own personal reasons that often include:

  1. Enhancing the size or shape of the nose
  2. Bringing a better proportion to the nose and facial features
  3. Repairing damage caused by an injury
  4. Improving or restoring breathing
  5. Complementing another facial procedures, such as eyelid surgery or face lift.

If you are unhappy with the size or shape of your nose, a nose job (rhinoplasty) may help. Many things can affect the look of your nose. Perhaps you were born with a bump, hook or drooping nasal tip, or an accident or injury may have changed the shape of your nose. Aging, too, can take its toll on the appearance of your nose. For some, a nose job can correct a functional issue such as breathing difficulty due to a deviated septum.

Medications are administered for your comfort during rhinoplasty surgery. The choices include intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.

The incision

Surgery of the nose is performed either using a closed procedure, where incisions are hidden inside the nose, or an open procedure, where an incision is made across the columella, the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils.

Through these incisions, the soft tissues that cover the nose are gently raised, allowing access to reshape the structure of the nose.

Correcting a deviated septum

If the septum is deviated, it is now straightened and the projections inside the nose are reduced to improve breathing.

Reshaping the nose structure

Surgery of the nose can reduce or augment nasal structures with the use of cartilage grafted from other areas of your body.

Most commonly, pieces of cartilage from the septum, the partition in the of the nose, is used for this purpose. Occasionally a piece of cartilage from the ear and rarely a section of rib cartilage can be used.

Closing the incision

Once the underlying structure of the nose is sculpted to the desired shape, nasal skin and tissue is redraped and incisions are closed. Additional incisions may be placed in the natural creases of the nostrils to alter their size.

Splints and internal tubes will likely support the nose as it begins to heal for approximately one week.

While initial swelling subsides within a few weeks, it may take up to a year for your new nasal contour to fully refine.

During this time you may notice gradual changes in the appearance of your nose as it refines to a more permanent outcome. Swelling may come and go and worsen in the morning during the first year following your nose surgery.

After your rhinoplasty, you can expect the first week to be the key during your recovery period. You will need to treat the area very gently to avoid harming your new nasal structure and interrupting the healing process. To that end, you’ll be advised to wear buttoned shirts, sleep with your head elevated, eat soft foods, take baths rather than showers, and avoid salty food and blowing your nose. In addition, you’ll need to carefully change the gauze outside your nose as directed by our plastic surgeon at Aakar Plastic and COSMETIC Surgery Clinic in Ahmedabad,Gujarat.

Throughout this initial period, it’s normal to experience some swelling, bruising and stuffiness. Though uncomfortable, these effects are only tempAakarry and should subside as you continue to heal. Rhinoplasty is generally not considered painful, but instead could be described as uncomfortable. With that said, certain side effects are not normal and require immediate medical attention. If you experience a high fever, severe bleeding, a significant injury to the nose or a considerable increase in pain that cannot be relieved with your prescribed medications, you should contact our Plastic and COSMETIC Clinic in Ahmedabad immediately.

About one week into your healing process, you’ll return to our Plastic and COSMETIC Surgery Clinic in Ahmedabad for your first post-operative appointment. During that meeting, our best plastic surgeon will remove any internal and external dressings so he can evaluate your nose, assess your progress and ensure that you’re healing properly. He will also answer any questions you may have about your recovery and provide you with additional aftercare instructions as needed. Depending on how swollen you are, he may apply tape on your nose to help the swelling resolve more quickly. From that point on, you will be seeing him several more times, as the healing process takes up to one year and he is a very hands on surgeon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rhinoplasty is surgery of the nose. Also known as a nose job, it can be performed for cosmetic or functional reasons. With rhinoplasty, defects or asymmetries of the nose can be corrected. A nose can be straightened, shortened, reduced in size or made narrower. In addition, bumps can be removed and the nostrils can be adjusted in size or flare.

Rhinoplasty is the combination of the greek words “Rhino” (meaning “nose”) and “Plasty” (meaning “to mold or shape”).

It is usually wise to avoid extensive nasal surgery on children unless it is to correct a serious problem or disfigurement due to a birth defect or trauma. Generally, cosmetic surgery on the nose is delayed until the nose has fully matured. Generally, this is around age 16 for women and age 18 for men. Patients who have completed their growth may have surgery at earlier ages. Nose reshaping is the most requested aesthetic surgical procedure by teens, but it can be performed at virtually any age as long as the person meets the medical and emotional criteria for being a good candidate for the surgery.

Most rhinoplasty patients would say that the surgery was not very painful; they might describe it as uncomfortable. The few patients who require nasal packing (placed into the nose after the operation to control bleeding) do find this bothersome. If your rhinoplasty requires nasal packing you will most likely be able to remove it within 48 hours.

At your consultation, you can discuss what you want to change about your nose with the surgeon and agree what size and shape nose you would like to achieve. There are many considerations to be taken into account and these will be discussed during your consultation with your surgeon.

Many plastic surgeons perform rhinoplasty from within the nose, making their incision inside the nostrils so scarring is undetectable. Occasionally open procedure (operating on the outside of the nose) is more suitable especially in complicated cases.

After your rhinoplasty surgery is completed, you will have a plaster cast that is applied in the operating theatre. It is important that this plaster cast is not removed for a period of at least 7-10 days.

Yes. Rhinoplasty surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. You will need someone to drop you off, pick you up, take you home and stay with you for at least 24 hours.

Following rhinoplasty, our patients return to normal activities within a few days, but some swelling and bruising may remain. During the first week you will have a cast on your nose; if you are not self-conscious about the cast you can resume most normal activities after 3 days. Most of the swelling will be gone within 3 weeks. You need to exercise good judgment for the first few weeks. Do not participate in strenuous activities that will increase your blood pressure and nasal swelling. Vigorous activity in the postoperative period may prolong recovery.

Rhinoplasty is permanent, but after rhinoplasty your nose will still change with the natural aging process.

You will need to wait for the swelling to subside before you can judge your final result. Patience is important. Often the subtleties and elegance aren’t revealed for many months. If after several months you are still unhappy with the result, speak with our plastic surgeons about revision rhinoplasty in Ahmedabad,Gujarat.

Many ethnic noses have skin, bone and cartilage qualities that limit the possible surgical outcomes. Often the best results are achieved with subtle improvements that do not completely erase the nose’s ethnic qualities.
